Meet

Dr. Simon Le Clerc

Hi, my name is Dr Simon Le Clerc and I choose to work with extraordinary people. The kind of inspiring people who have achieved extraordinary things, have a bias for action and a track record for success.

The kind of professional sportsmen, entrepreneurs, CEOs, business owners, elite soldiers and politicians who, despite the extraordinary things they have already achieved, feel there is still more for them to do.

Being extraordinary in some aspects of your life can put huge pressures on others, especially when you are facing new challenges in terms of changes in career, vision or life events.

24 years of

Active Military Service

I am not a counsellor or a therapist and, after 24 years of active service in the military, neither would I propose to be. Whilst counsellors and therapists work in the past and the present, my expertise is in helping clients attain the future they really want. I thrive in the realm of being told something is “impossible”.

At first glance it might seem so but  by being willing to ask challenging questions that most other coaches wouldn’t dare ask and to explore the places others wouldn’t dare to go, I make it possible for clients’ perceptions to change, to dismantle their psychological barriers and help them to explore and expand the limits of what they think is possible.

My Story

High Achieving Introvert

On reflection, I would consider myself to be a ‘high-achieving introvert’. From achieving sporting and citizenship accolades as a teenager, to serving twenty-four years in the British Army as an Officer, leader and subject matter expert in pre-hospital trauma care, to becoming a lecturer and specialist national advisor, through to holding director and executive head positions within a charity - achievement and peer respect have never been an issue for me.

Yet despite all of this external appearance of success, internally, I had always felt somewhat unsettled, a little lost and to some extent a bit of a failure. Indeed, I seemed to be in a vicious spiral - the more I achieved the less fulfilled I felt and the less I felt able to enjoy these successes.

At times it even led me to some very dark places. Talking to others; sportsmen, soldiers, doctors and senior executives I realised that they too felt similarly – particularly when their primary career was drawing to an end, or a long-held project had successfully concluded. I established Transformational Leadership Coaching Ltd to help others who find themselves in the same position as I did.

My Mission

Coach Extraordinary People

At Transformational Leadership Coaching Ltd we are able challenge the perceptions of what is and isn’t humanly ‘possible’ for clients who feel these constraints.

As an introvert, I know how hard it can be for people to put their head above the parapet and seek help from somebody who understands where they are coming from.

My ‘mission’ in life now is to coach extraordinary people towards achieving their ‘impossible’ futures, one powerful conversation at a time.

If this resonates with you, please take that first step and contact me. It would be great to start changing the world together!

Testimonials

The following is a genuine account to why I would consider the value of the service that Simon is providing. A few years ago, I had reached the limit of what I wished to achieve from a military career and was deciding whether to pursue a second career as a doctor. However, I was well aware that my chances of gaining a place in medical school was unlikely owing to a poor background education and lack of experience in this profession. To further complicate decisions, there were people I trusted who tried pushing me towards other ‘more realistic’ goals. This was at a time when my own judgement was likely clouded. I was struggling with life generally and had no future direction, to which a combination of combat stress with a high pace of life had likely contributed and amplified some of these problems. Deep down I desired this opportunity, but this appeared to be out of my reach or ability.

I first met Simon six years ago, who was my mentor, when I was placed on an attachment within a hospital through the military. It was the initial impressions of professionalism with approachability which gave me the confidence to discuss both some of the problems I was facing as well as a career move. This combination can be very challenging for a person to even begin to unravel and to seek the roots of the problem, especially following such minimal contact. Although not a willing person to express my deep thoughts and emotions, I recognised a connection by Simon to which few people could relate. This ultimately contributed to the confidence needed to pursue a future goal instead of, what I feared, giving up on life.

Simon’s own professional status as a pre-hospital consultant, in combination with the many years spent as a military officer clearly reflect just some of the qualities of professionalism, determination, and most important to myself, life experience. On reflection, this is partly why I placed trust in Simon in the first place and I feel I owe Simon greatly for the support, understanding and guidance he gave me at this difficult time. Sometimes you sit back and think there is nowhere else to go. You have done everything you have ever wanted and had what others would say is a ‘exceptional life’, but the truth is you don’t feel that way and, in some respects, consider yourself a failure. This is a service I have used in the past but without actually realising it. Simon is someone I had never met before but is the individual who was clearly experienced with all the good, and not so good aspects that life delivers.

UKSF to medical studies

This area is key to helping athletes through often difficult transitions to a life beyond professional sport and Simon has the experience to assist individuals grow as they seek a focused and planned future.

As a former professional tennis player myself and now a WTA coach, I would of embraced the help Simon provides towards the end of my tennis career, his professionalism and integrity will ensure athletes have the very best support needed to fulfil their potential as they move to a different phase in their lives

Ex British Tennis Pro

I’ve known Simon for more than 20 years.  During this time he has persistently shown his innate and utterly professional and personable approach.  He seamlessly combines this with a deep-rooted ability to guide, support and mentor Executives to solve complex and ‘wicked’ problems and to seek novel solutions allowing them to easily attain both their professional and personal objectives.

Jon W – Senior Army Officer

Simon was one of the first Critical Care Doctors I worked with as a Pilot with the Air Ambulance. His method of working and his approach is always empathetic. He is professional and can successfully command the most traumatic of scenes. The qualities Simon has demonstrated repeatedly especially in difficult scenarios, draw from his vast experiences both in the civilian and military world. His coaching and nurturing approach moulds those around him, he inspires through education, information and his personal experiences.

Simon is an excellent leader. He is able to quickly identify and draw out the skills of other team members, not just to empower them as individuals but for the greater good of the team. To do this he takes time to engage with the team, understand them, identify their strengths and weaknesses and work with them to encourage transformation through self-development. Through education, practical training and human interaction the teams I worked in excelled due to Simon’s leadership. Even in the most harrowing of situations his character and humour strengthened the team. Simon is an amazing person and an inspirational colleague.
